She has been a household name for almost three decades since her 1979 television debut as part of the live daytime drama, ‘Together’. First appearing as a guest on the popular children’s television programme ‘Blue Peter’, she became the show’s presenter from 1980 until 1983. After leaving ‘Blue Peter’, Sarah went on to present ‘Saturday Superstore’ alongside Mike Read, then on to co-host ‘Going Live!’ with Phillip Schofield. Apart from presenting magazine shows such as the BBC’s ‘Pebble Mill at One’, Greene has also acted in ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘French & Saunders’. EmailRocks & Co., is delighted to announce the special guest appearance of renowned gem expert, lapidary and colourful raconteur, Tony Diniz, from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd November, 2008. Tony will be giving viewers the opportunity to know the whole story behind some of the gorgeous gemstones available at Rocks & Co.While Brazilian Tony Diniz has been in the gemstone industry for over twelve years, how this began is a story in itself. As a boy, Tony’s grandfather, who lived in the small town of Santa Luzia not far from where Paraíba Tourmaline was discovered in 1989, entranced him with colourful gemstone stories, even taking him to visit a mine. His professional association with gemstones began in earnest as a business graduate working as an assistant gemstone buyer with one of Brazil’s largest gemstone companies. While he describes his, “only qualification as a passion for gemstones”, this certainly worked for Tony, as he rapidly moved up the ranks. Soon Tony was buying rough and cut gemstones throughout South America worth millions of dollars. After twelve years in the industry, Tony has many achievements under his belt. He was one of the first people involved with Mozambique Paraíba Tourmaline; he found significant quantities of some of the world’s finest Kunzite while on adventures in Afghanistan’s Kunar Valley; and was the first to present Blue Fire Opal to the world, right here on Rocks & Co. When asked about his forthcoming appearance on Rocks & Co. Tony said, “Going on air is great fun, but I also have a huge responsibility to the customer; I tell them the real story behind gemstones, so they have confidence in every piece of Rocks & Co. jewellery they own”. Don’t miss Tony Diniz this Friday at 3.00pm and 9.00pm, Saturday at 3.00pm and 9.00pm and Sunday at 1.00pm and 5pm on Sky Channel 642, where he’ll tell you the story behind the gem. Why not text Tony? Just send ‘Studio’ and your message to 82222 or e-mail studio@rocksandco.com. Discuss this article in the Forum!
